Which one is right for me?
Usually Profhilo if your skin has become dry or dull across the face, neck or hands. Usually polynucleotides if it looks crepey or uneven. If you're not sure, that's what the free consultation is for, and Alicia will also tell you if neither is the answer.
Is either of them a filler?
No. Profhilo is hyaluronic acid that isn't cross-linked, so it spreads through the skin instead of holding a shape where it's placed. Polynucleotides add no volume either. Neither will fill a line or change the shape of your face.
How soon will I notice a difference?
Slowly. With Profhilo, very little happens in the first two weeks. Hydration comes first, and you judge it six to eight weeks after the second session, more often in photos and in how make-up sits than in the mirror one morning. Polynucleotides work gradually over the course, so judge them once it's finished, not between sessions.
How long does it last?
We'd rather tell you about maintenance than promise a length of time. After the course, most people have one Profhilo session about every six months, and some go longer. For polynucleotides it's one session every six to nine months.
Can I have it under my eyes?
Polynucleotides, yes: they can be used under the eyes for thin or crepey skin. Profhilo, no: it isn't placed directly under the eyes. Neither will fill a hollow or remove a shadow caused by one, and Alicia will tell you at the consultation if that's what you're seeing.
Does it hurt?
You'll feel each small injection, and how that feels varies from person to person. Alicia talks you through what to expect at the consultation, and you can ask for a pause at any point.
Will I bruise?
You might. Profhilo leaves small raised bumps at each injection point that settle within a few hours. Polynucleotides cause short-lived swelling and, now and then, a bruise. Most people are presentable the next day. If you have an event coming up, say so on the call and your sessions can be planned around it.
Can I have both?
Yes. They're often used together rather than one instead of the other. Alicia plans the order and spacing with you at the consultation, and each session is £200.
What does the first year cost?
Profhilo: £400 for the course, then one £200 maintenance session about six months later, so £600. Polynucleotides: £600 for the course and one £200 maintenance session, so £800. That's the prices above added up.
What are polynucleotides made from?
A purified ingredient taken from fish, usually salmon or trout. That's why they aren't suitable if you have a fish allergy. Tell Alicia about any allergies at your consultation.
Who will treat me?
Alicia Marsland, every session. She's a registered nurse with seventeen years in clinical practice.
Is there an age limit?
Yes. You must be 18 or over, with no exceptions.
